From brushes to drama: Makeup secrets of 'The Tenth Night'

Iranian film makeup master, Jalal Moayyerian, shared fascinating insights into his work.

In an interview from some time ago, Iranian film makeup master, Jalal Moayyerian, shared fascinating insights into his work on iFilm's TV series 'The Tenth Night’.

Alongside him, his talented son and daughter-in-law, also skilled makeup artists, joined the project, making it a family affair.

Given the series' portrayal of characters from the Qajar tribe and the Tazieh passion play, Moayyerian emphasized the importance of makeup that seamlessly complemented the storyline and ambiance.

He emphasized how the makeup had to bring out the angelic or devilish essence of each character, making it a harmonious whole.

Babak Moayyerian, the makeup designer on the show, also contributed to the interview, revealing some of the challenges they faced during production.

He recounted their quest for black contact lenses, a rarity in Iran at the time. To achieve the desired effect, they had to source the lenses from Dubai or other foreign countries, underscoring their commitment to authenticity.

Recently aired on iFilm, 'The Tenth Night' unfolds the tale of Heidar, who, after losing a bet, finds himself in a daring predicament.

To win the heart of a princess from the deposed Qajar dynasty, he must organize and perform in a 10-night passion play, 'Tazieh', banned by the Pahlavi regime.
